 Our Lady of Vladimir

Our Lady of Vladimir

About the icon:

The icon of Our Lady of Vladimir is one of the most venerated Orthodox icons. The icon is a version of the Eleusa ("Tenderness") type, with the Christ child snuggling up to his mother's cheek. This icon was traditionally said to have been painted by the Apostle Luke. Our Lady of Vladimir has been central to Russian history, present at miraculous military victories and many royal coronations.
